Sing a ma jigs by Fisher Price

What are the new Sing a ma jigs?

They are one of the newest toys to hit the market, and the response to them has been huge so far. Chances are, if you are the parent to a 3 - 6 year old, these cute little stuffed animals will be on your Christmas shopping list. These have been quite the hit with the older kids as well, so don't be surprised if your 10 year old asks for one too!

Why do kids love the Sing a ma jig toys?

First of all, you can't overlook the cuteness factor. They look like a cross between a teddy bear and a ugly doll (which aren't really ugly, just quirky). The unique thing about the sing-a-ma-jig dolls though, is their singing ability. You may be thinking Yeah, yeah! What's the big deal about another singing doll!?!

Sing-a-ma-jigs Video

Well, these little guys can harmonize when they are all together. Pretty cool, huh?

If you still don't quite get it - watch the video. Then come back and vote on the Sing A Ma Jigs coolness factor.

I've played with these and they are somehow quite addicting and manage to make you laugh every time. I like the harmonization mode the best.

Star Spangled Banner Singamajig
Star Spangled Banner Singamajig

Most singing plush toys that sing only play one song and that is it. These guys have a bit more to their act than that.

How do you play with a Sing-a-ma-jig?

The left hand / arm of each character has a button in it. When you squeeze their hand it will turn on. You can then squeeze their belly to make noise. There are three modes of play

  1. Sing a song as you squeeze their belly
  2. Chatter to you
  3. Sing notes & harmonize with other Sing a ma jigs

You can cycle through these modes of play by simply squeezing the hand.

They each have one song that is special to them that they sing as you squeeze them.

Each doll has it's own pitch and tone so they do sound different from each other, but harmonize perfectly.

Each plush animal does require 2 AAA batteries.

They do turn themselves off and say Goodbye after about a minute of not being played with.

There are 8 Sing a Ma Jigs in the collection currently, but Fisher Price will most likely be adding more as the Christmas Toy Shopping season approaches.

Singamajigs Duet

If you think the regular singamajig characters are adorable, just wait till you see the Duets! These have little baby singamajigs with them! One in green and one in purple.

The little green guy sings "Bingo" .

The little purple one sings "Hello ma Baby".

Singamajigs Frost

The Frost Singamajig's special song is "Sing, Sing, Sing".

Singamajigs Midnight

The Midnight Singamajig sings "Skinamarink".

Mint Green Sing a Ma Jigs

The Mint Green Sing a Ma Jig is a little bit harder to find. He sings "It's Raining, It's Pouring" Adorable, he reminds me of Mr. Rogers for some reason, maybe the striped shirt he has on

Teal Blue Sing a Ma Jigs

The Teal sing a ma jig sings "When the Saints Go Marching In". This little guy is more boyish in his looks with a yellow striped shirt.

A must for any Who Dat Nation Saints babies!!

Do you think the Sing a ma jigs are a cool new toy?

  • Yes! I'm gonna buy all of them.
  • Meh - They are okay. I might buy one.
  • No! It's just another stuffed animal.

Yellow Sing a Ma Jigs

The yellow sing a ma jig is one of the original group members, and may be more difficult to find. This one looks more like a bunny with longer ears. Sings "Home on the Range".

Orange Sing a Ma Jigs

The orange sing a ma jig sings "On Top of Old Smokey". The orange one is new to the collection as well. I think this guy looks like more of a dog.

Hot Pink Sing a Ma Jigs

Isn't she sweet? Her special song is "A Tisket, A Tasket". Every little girl will fall in love with her. She is a rare one & hard to find in stores.

A sister to the Hot Pink Sing a Ma Jig, this little one has a tuft of hair. She sings "Skip to My Lou".

Will there be more Sing-a-ma-jigs added to the collection?

Yes, the signs are good for adding new members to the Sing-a-ma-jig Choir. Mattel has had to increase production since these toys were release in February of 2010. They are hoping for a Zhu Zhu like craze, and have ramped up production of these plush animals.

Now that they have made the Toys R Us Top Toy List for 2010, the sales will see an even higher increase.

Plans are for there to be a total of 12 Sing a ma jigs available for purchase by Christmas time.

Have you heard of the other hot toys this year?

Who will you be buying a Sing a Ma Jig for this year?

My sister told me about these when I asked what to get my neice for her birthday. She loooved them. They were the hit of the birthday party.

I think you really have to get more than one to get the full effect.

I first heard about these on the radio and that they were to be the next big thing. Since I was unable to find ZhuZhu's last Christmas (when I finally figured out what a ZhuZhu was)... I went straight to Walmart and bought some for my nephews! They are adorable!
