Christmas Toy Gifts for Teens :: Cuponk! Cup
63What is Cuponk?
Cuponk! is the sound that you hear when you play this new game from Hasbro. Want to get your kid off of the PS3 or Xbox for a little while? Give him a Cuponk game.
Simple & addictive, but ooohhh so hard. The best thing about this game is it's simple concept. Basically, you are trying to bounce a ball (similar to a ping pong ball, but with a bit more weight) into a cup. Simple, right?
YES, but the creators of this toy took this simple concept a couple steps further and have turned it into a cool game for older kids and adults.
For the adults out there, this might look suspiciously like beer pong, but is actually much more fun!
The hit NBC show Minute to Win It has made these types of games very popular.
How do you play Cuponk?
- To play Cuponk, you select a card from the Trick Deck - 30 cards showing different trick on each one and the number of tries allowed to complete it.
- The card shown is called the Pot Shot. Bounce the ball off of a pot, and get it to land in the cup and you have completed the trick!
- Once the kids get the hang of this game, a whole world of possibilities is opened up. They will start using their imagination to come up with their own trick shots. There are even blank cards provided for them to create their personal Cuponk trick shots on.
2. If the first player is successful, they keep the card and the next player draws from the deck. If the first player fails in their attempt to complete the trick, the card is passed to the next player who has to attempt the trick. If none of the players can complete the trick, you discard it and start again with a new card.
3. You can set your own rules for winning. First one to complete 3 tricks, first to get to 20 by adding their successful trick cards together, finish the trick deck, whatever.
Hasbro Teams Up with Bam Margera
Hasbro asked Bam Margera to direct the commercial for this new product. With a target market of teen boys, Margera has filmed these promotional videos with cool, awe inspiring trick shots that make any kid say "I can do that!"
What's in the box?
Each Cuponk game comes with the Cuponk! cup, 2 balls, 30 trick cards, a backboard, and instruction booklet.
Each set has it's own set of trick cards, so if you buy all three, you will have 90 trick cards to play with. Otherwise, it isn't really necessary to buy more than one of these games.
Cuponk! - Gorillanator with Ramp
There are 3 different Cuponk games. Each one makes a different sound when the Cuponk shot is made and lands in the cup.
The Gorillanator with Ramp makes crazy gorilla sounds and the lights go off. The ramp is an additional component to the game, but not necessarily needed.
Cuponk! - Let it R.I.P. with Backboard
Cuponk! - Let it R.I.P. with Backboard is a slightly different and features killer zombie sounds.
Cuponk! - El Campeon with Funnel
Cuponk! - El Campeon with Funnel features wild wrestling sounds.
Need Extra Cuponk! Balls?
Whether you have lost the two Cuponk balls that came with the game, or you just want extras for friends, you can buy the Cuponk 7 Extra Ping Pong Balls. Two different expansion packs are available. Each ball has a different logo so you will know which one is yours when playing with a group of friends.
