Christmas Classroom Party Games

No matter if you are a teacher or a parent volunteer, planning a Christmas Classroom Party is sure to involve some Christmas Party Games. If I learned anything from my time spent volunteering at my kids' Classroom Parties, it is that kids love to play games. No matter what age they are!

The key to planning a great party is to have age appropriate games that are not too involved for a limited time period. Most of these games do not require a lot of supplies which will keep your costs down.

When I planned a classroom party, we usually had about 45 minutes for the party. Sometimes we just played games, and other times we would play one or two games and do an easy craft. We always had a special Christmas treat & juice for them, though.

No matter what I had planned, I always made sure I had something to fill time if needed. Something like a Christmas story to read or Christmas music to play.

The Reindeer are lost and the kids need to help find them in order for Santa to be able to deliver the presents!

Supplies:

• Nine Reindeer cutouts
• Clues for the hunt

Directions:

Hide the nine reindeer around the classroom before the party is started. You will need to scope out the classroom ahead of time so that you can prepare your clues. Then separate them in teams and give them a sheet of clues that tells them where to find the reindeer. (You can spread this out to the whole school if the kids are allowed to leave the classroom. Places like the Nurse's office or the library are easy hints to give.) The team with the most reindeer found gets a prize.

Musical presents is a game that combines the hot potato game and musical chairs game together. Lots of fun, and each kid gets a gift. Appropriate for K-4th Grade.

Supplies:

• 1 small trinket toy for each child in the class
• At least 2 different kinds of wrapping paper
• Christmas Music CD

Directions:

Start with one trinket toy and wrap it. Then wrap that gift and another trinket in a different kind of wrapping paper. Continue with each trinket toy until you eventually have a big ball of wrapping paper.

How to Play:

Have all of the kids sit in a circle. Play the music and have them pass the "ball" of wrapping paper around the circle. When you stop the music the person holding the ball gets to unwrap one layer of wrapping paper and they get to keep the trinket in that layer. That person is then out of the game and the game continues until the last person opens their gift.

A fun game that gets them moving! This game can be played by Kindergarteners and up.

Supplies:

• Red noses (red circles cut out of construction paper)
• Vaseline
• Q-tips

How To Play:

Divide the kids into teams. Give each team a little pot of vaseline and q-tips. Each team gets one red nose. Have the kids use the q-tips to apply the Vaseline to their nose, then half of them stand on one side of the room and half on the other. They have to pass the nose to each other after walking across the room. If the nose drops they have to get back in line and start over.

Christmas Carol Pictionary is an easy game for most kids to play & is lots of fun because they get to use the chalkboard, which they love to do!

Supplies:

Slips of paper with Christmas Carols written on them.

How to Play:

Ask for a volunteer to start off the game. Have them draw a slip of paper out of a hat (or bag). Then they have to start drawing the Christmas Carol. The rest of the class guesses. Whomever guesses correctly gets to draw next. If you have a lot of time, you can even pass out song sheets and have the class sing the carols after they are guessed.

Examples - Frosty the Snowman, Jingle Bells, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, etc...

A classic game that is much loved by kids because it is so much fun. Even though they may have played pin the nose on the pumpkin at Halloween - they will still get a kick out of Pin the Nose on Rudolph!

Supplies-

• A Reindeer cutout or large reindeer head
• As many red nose cutouts as there are kids in the class.
  
• Double stick tape
• Blindfold

Directions -

One by one call each kid up, blindfold them, and spin them around 2-3 times. Then give them the red nose and ask them to try to pin the nose on the reindeer in the right place. Leave all of the noses up to see how far off and how close they all get.

This game has many different variations. You can do places from A-Z, presents from A-Z, or names from A-Z. A nice game to play with the whole class together. Age appropriate 1st-4th grade.

How to Play:

1. Have everyone sit in a circle.
2. The first child says,"On Christmas Eve I'm traveling with Santa and we are going to (somewhere that starts with A )".
3. The next player repeats the first place and adds the next one beginning with B continue the game through the alphabet.
4. If there are more players than 26 letters...start again at "A".

stimation games are educational & fun! Kids love to guess how many of something are in a container. You can make a game out of almost anything. Just try to use a clear container to hold the items in. Here are some ideas for you:

• Mini Marshmallows
• Gumdrops
• Ornaments
• Bows
• Beads
• Lights
• Number of ornaments on the tree
• Bells

This is a fun game that has the whole class participating at the same time. A good game to get started with or end with because it has them all in their seats.

Supplies:

• A set of jingle bells for each child - This can be a cute take home gift as well. Just tie two bells on a string of yarn for a necklace. 
• Object for hiding
  

How to Play:

Show the object to be hidden to the class. Ask for a volunteer to get started. Send that child from the room while you hide the special object. Ask the volunteer to come back in. Tell the rest of the class to use their jingle bells to help the volunteer find the object. Ringing them louder the closer the searcher gets.
